Description

This paper presents an accurate method for modeling the PCB fiber weave effect.  Based on the actual PCB routing of commonly used ultra-low loss material, both worst-case and statistical intra-pair skew numbers of various glass styles are obtained through 3D field solver. The resulted models are applied to 32Gbps NRZ (PCIe 5.0) full link analysis, and the maximum allowed intra-pair skew is calculated. The design guide of maximum trace length parallels to the working panel edge is proposed to mitigate the fiber weave effect. The analysis is extended to PCIe 6.0.
